SCHEME TO INCREASE PROPERTY TAX BY 150 PER CENT REPROVED
The Southern India Engineering Manufacturers' Association (SIEMA) has strongly objected to the proposal of the City Corporation to increase the property tax by around 150 per cent for industrial buildings, which it termed as 'very abnormal and unethical.' The very survival of pumps, motors and textile machinery manufacturers was in doubt due to abnormal and frequent increase in prices of major raw materials like pig iron, coke, aluminum and steel and announcement of hike in property tax was another burden, adding fuel to fire, SIEMA said.

FM HOPES TO LOWER REALTY PRICES
The increase of floor space index (FSI) from 1 to 1.33 in Mumbai suburbs, will make houses more affordable for the middle class, feels Maharashtra finance Minister Jayant Patil. The FSI in suburban Mumbai would be increased to 1.33 and would be brought on par with FSI permissible in island city. For the additional 0.33 FSI, premium would be required to be paid on the basis of market value as per the ready beckoner.

According to the agreement between the two companies, The Statesman Privilege card offered by Club One Air will be given to all the owners of Celeste Towers. MAHINDRA LIFESPACE PROJECT IN NAGPUR
Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd (MLDL) along with B.E. Billimoria & Co Ltd. (BEBL) has jointly won the bid to develop a 25-acre residential project in Nagpur. The project consists of 2.74 million sq. ft. of development of which 1.6 million sq. ft. of built-up area is to be developed in the first phase. The total investment in the project will be about Rs. 500 crore over a period of five years.
HDFC JV TO TAKE UP PROJECT IN B'LORE
Sterling Urban Developments, a joint venture floated by HDFC Property Fund (a subsidiary of Housing Development Finance Corporation) with Bangalore based Sterling Developers, will take up development of 150 acres at Bangalore's Whitefield suburb at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore. The project, 'Sterling Villa Grande', will see a total built-up area of 20 million square feet to be executed in phases.

The agreement was signed by Ravinder Taneja, Vice Chairman, TDI Infrastructure Ltd and Pawan Verma, Senior Executive Vice President (Operations), ITC Ltd (Hotels Division). The 100 room hotel, ‘Fortune Select Hotel', is to come up near the TDI Kundli Township, in Sonepat District on NH 1. The hotel would commence operations in 24 months and will serve the needs of NCR and the KundliSonepat belt. This is the first of the many hotels, TDI Hotels and Resorts are going to build in their various townships.
